  • Feasibility analysis

Implementation

  • Facilitate and coordinate 3 schools switching to biodiesel for a minimum trial period of 4 years
  • Fundraising to help offset the additional costs of using biodiesel (B20)
    • Local businesses donate money to offset their carbon footprint and demonstrate their commitment to “greening” the community
    • Class sponsorship of project and small scale fundraising initiatives
    • Private foundation match of money raised by local community

Outreach

  • Incorporate biodiesel into high school environmental studies curriculum
    • Students as project stewards
    • Biodiesel “switch” as experiential learning opportunity to explore local impacts of and response to global climate change (biology, environmental science/ecology, physics, mathematics, history, geography, etc)
  • Biobus II site visit and workshop
Stimulate local awareness of and demand for biodiesel supply
