Mission Statement
Our goals are to help schools integrate biodiesel into their institutions by providing them with the information necessary to purchase or produce biodiesel, and to create widespread awareness of the benefits of using biodiesel.

Plan
We plan to drive across the United States on a school bus powered by biodiesel. BioBus will begin in September 2004 and will last for roughly 90 days. We plan to travel to 21 major cities across the country, stopping at secondary schools as well as colleges and universities along the way to encourage them to make the switch to biodiesel.
  • @ Secondary schools: We are working with local philanthropic organizations to fund the use of biodiesel in school buses, specifically to reduce the exposure of our nation's youth to cancer-causing agents (Converting Schools).
  • @ Colleges and universities: We will present the advantages of using biodiesel to foster awareness in the coming generation, and provide students with the information and aid that they need in order to make the changes.
Purpose
  1. Awareness
We want to show the public that switching from a fossil fuel to a renewable resource does not necessarily mean a change in lifestyle.
  2. Alternative fuel source
Biodiesel greatly reduces harmful emissions. Carbon monoxide emissions are reduced by 48%, hydrocarbons by 67%, particulates by 47% and sulfurs, a particular problem with petroleum diesel, are reduced by 100 percent.
  3. Reducing dependence on foreign oil
The use of biodiesel reduces the consumption of and the dependence on foreign oil, while supporting American farmers and industry.
  4. Increase domestic farming industry. Biodiesel can be derived from any plant-based oil. The soy bean, rape seed, peanut and sunflower industries in the US would have an enormous opportunity to grow.
